After graduating from Brown University in 1986, Dr. Ross Lirtzman received his veterinary degree from the University of Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine in 1990. He completed a one year rotating internship at the University of Minnesota Veterinary Teaching Hospital and between 1991 and 1995, he was a resident, chief resident and lecturer in Small Animal Surgery at the renowned University of California-Davis School of Veterinary Medicine.
Dr. Lirtzman is the founder and principal partner of Arizona Canine Orthopedics & Sports Medicine and brings more than 30 years of experience to the practice.
In addition to a robust clinical caseload, Dr. Lirtzman has also served as a clinical consultant, key opinion leader and educator for three major industry partners - Johnson & Johnson Animal Health/Depuy Synthes Vet TPLO, BioMedtrix BFX cementles, hybrid cemented and Micro/Nano total hip replacement and Arthrex Vet.
Lirtzman's innovative and research interests are focused on improving outcomes and reducing complications of total hip replacement in animals through intra-operative x-ray imaging.
Dr. Lirtzman is also featured on the TPLO educational website www.tploanswers.com with videos nearing 400,000 views.
Ross and his wife Julia Solomon, MD, are proud parents of daughter Isabella, five purebred and half-Arabian horses and five "fur kids" - a labrador rescue named Finley, three Spinone Italiano dogs, Teddy, Vito, and Louie, and one Scottish Fold cat named Razzle.
